It was with sadness that we heard of the death last week of Myerscough lecturer Alan Reeves.
Alan was a lecturer in Arboriculture (trees) at the college and was a keen musician and folk enthusiast. He played with us once or twice, being seen here at a rather damp Myerscough Open Day in 2002.
Alan, Bob and I came together along with Helen Fenton to play for Christmas carols at the college one year at the instigation of the college chaplain. Alan had a ready supply of words and even some little-known alternative tunes for some carols which had a folky feel to them and which went down well.
A few days later we were asked to play at a party and David happened to be there and asked to sing along - Creeping Bentgrass was started!
Sleep easy Alan, you will always be one of the good ones!
