25 June 2006
Last night was always going to be one of the best nights in the Creeping Bentgrass calendar! The evening was a fund-raiser for the Garstang Light opera Group (GLOG) and that means some quality guest singers and artistes for us.
Shelagh Cooney joined us to reprise her contribution to "The Fields of Athenry" which we released on the "Kites" album in 2005. The three-part harmony sends shivers down my spine even as we are singing! Then her husband, Peter, played guitar for a spot by Marion Gaughan, followed by a couple of songs from Shelagh and finally Frank Worthington joined us with a pair of thick black-rimmed spectacles to sing a few Buddy Holly numbers.
It was nice to meet up with a few folk who had come to join us after seeing us at the Myerscough College Open Day a few weeks ago. They joined in the dancing with gusto and seemed to be enjoying themselves!
